Community Development Services

Community Development Services empower individuals to establish goals related to various aspects such as money management, travel planning, and physical and social skills. These goals are used to create community-based activities that aim to achieve these objectives. PBCS’s Direct support staff assists individuals in achieving these activities, which may include volunteer work, engaging in peer activities, and exploring the community on a day-to-day basis.

Personal Support Services

PBCS's Personal Support program provides services aimed at assisting individuals with developmental disabilities in enhancing their independent living skills and integrating into the community. These services are available both during the day and overnight, either at home or in the community. The program offers support with activities of daily living (ADL), helps develop skills necessary for community integration and independent living, assists with medication administration and management, teaches community safety and survival skills, aids with errands and grocery shopping, and provides resources for using public transportation to encourage social and leisure activities.

Day Habilitation

PBCS's Day Habilitation program adopts a person-centered approach, offering a small group environment beneficial to learning and personal development.

The program emphasizes tailored skills training in several key areas, including:

  • Activities of daily living, such as grooming, meal preparation, and housekeeping
  • Self-advocacy to empower individuals to express their needs and preferences
  • Social skills to enhance interpersonal interactions
  • Leisure skills to promote recreational activities
  • Community outings to foster engagement with the broader community

Situated in Owings Mills, MD, PBCS provides convenient door-to-door transportation for individuals residing in other residential settings or their personal homes in the Baltimore area. The program welcomes individuals with various funding sources, including Rare and Expensive Case Management (REM), Developmental Disability Administration (DDA), as well as private payment options.

Respite Services

It's crucial for everyone to have time for tasks, fun, planning, and dealing with challenges. Without this time, people can become overwhelmed. Families caring for individuals with special needs also need breaks to refresh and recharge. PBCS offers periodic respite care to provide relief for families or primary caregivers. PBCS Respite provides skilled, personalized, and specialized medical/nursing and behavioral support services to adult individuals with special needs in their homes and all of PBCS’s residential homes. The core value of PBCS’ respite is to provide quality and customized services to its individuals in an excellent and professional manner.
